In recent, striking news an actress has lodged a heavy indictment against renowned actor, Russell Brand, accusing him of sexual assault. The incident allegedly took place on the set of the comedy movie 'Arthur' in 2010. The accuser, who remains unnamed, filed a civil lawsuit against Brand - who has already enveloped in a string of grave accusations including rape, assault, and emotional abuse between the years 2006 and 2013 - in New York this past Friday.
In her statement, the actress accuses Brand of unseemly conduct, detailing that he exposed himself in full view of the cast and crew and later allegedly assaulted her within a secured toilet, while a production crew member guarded the door. She has extended her lawsuit to include Warner Bros., and other production companies involved with the film.
The actress described her experience on-set as feeling “used and abused”, further expressing her sentiment with “I felt like I was just an object for his momentary titillation.” She highlighted a disturbing power dynamic at play on the set, alleging that any complaints brought forth by her would have been dismissed.
To add to her woes, she maintains that she was scheduled to shoot for three days, but was not called for work subsequent to the alleged incidents, and was only remunerated for a single day's work. The lawsuit notes the severe emotional toll the incident has taken on her, leading her to find it difficult to trust others and resulting in lasting embarrassment, shame, and fear. However, she speaks out with determination and resolve, aiming to encourage others who may have had similar experiences to come forward.
The lawsuit also conveyed that Brand, despite celebrating 20 years of sobriety at the end of last year, was allegedly found to be intoxicated on set and was “carrying a bottle of vodka”. Russell Brand, known for his roles in movies like 'Get Him to the Greek', has previously denied any allegations of impropriety and has yet to comment on these latest accusations.
