In the wake of an enthralling Rugby World Cup final that saw the Springboks clinch a victory over the All Blacks, Nelson Mandela Bay, home to Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, is poised to commemorate the occasion in an exhilarating fashion. Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Gary van Niekerk, declared a promise last week, a promise that he now fully intends to fulfill.
The celebration will not only be monumental but also adventurous. Mayor van Niekerk has pledged to bungee jump from the Bloukrans Bridge in Tsitsikamma. Moreover, the mayor will embrace the spirit of the occasion by dawning the iconic South African-branded Speedo made popular by Springbok's Faf de Klerk.
The upcoming event not just provides an adrenaline rush but also signifies the patriotic spirit and unity amongst the residents. The Bloukrans Bridge holds the record for being the world's highest commercial bungee jump site, standing tall at 216 metres above the Bloukrans River.
The daring leap is scheduled for noon, with the presence of hundreds of Gqeberha-based Bok supporters expected, who had earlier braved the icy, wet weather to witness the game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and Axxess Fan Park at the Boardwalk Mall.
