OpenAI has made a significant move with its language-processing AI model, ChatGPT, by removing the restrictions previously imposed on its web browsing capabilities. Paying users of ChatGPT Plus or the ChatGPT Enterprise edition get this feature, thus enabling the ChatGPT to browse the Internet freely, augmenting its knowledge base beyond its training cut-off data.
Microsoft, in May 2023, initially announced the beta testing of the "Browse with Bing" feature, providing the AI with access to real-time Internet data. However, due to display issues and reports of paywall bypassing, OpenAI halted its testing few months later. Having resolved these issues, OpenAI believes that with ChatGPT’s ethical constraints in place, it can handle open access to the web effectively and responsibly.
Apart from ongoing web access, OpenAI has introduced another feature: Dall-E integration. Dall-E is OpenAI’s AI capable of generating images from textual descriptions. ChatGPT can now respond to user’s text with images, translating their ideas into visual presentations on the web and mobile platforms. When selecting GPT-4, users must opt for Dall-E 3, though message limits may apply based on capacity.
These advancements by OpenAI aim to enhance user experience with ChatGPT, ensuring the smart AI model stays current and able to understand and respond to more complex commands in both text and visuals.
