US Poised on Trigger Amid Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, War Threat Looms Large

In what seems like a shadow of the third world war looming large, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine is edging closer to an unfortunate escalation. Initiated as Palestinian resistance against the alleged aggression by the apartheid-Israeli regime, the situation has now spiralled into precarious uncertainty, largely influenced by the interventions of the United States.

In the wake of last Saturday, Operation al-Aqsa Flood by Hamas, marked by the launch of over 5,000 rockets on Israel, signals an unprecedented intelligence failure of Israel's heretofore formidable agencies – Aman, Mossad and Shabak. The operation has managed to dismantle Israel's supposed doctrine of deterrence, intelligence remonstrance, and military preparedness, revealing severe shortcomings in their air defence system, known as the Iron Dome.

As the atrocities escalate and with over 1,300 Palestinians claimed by the conflict, international focus is now fixated on the actions of the United States. In what appears as a drastic turn from its earlier position, the Biden administration has veered in favour of the Israeli regime, promising increased military aid and affirming its right to self-defence. A recent delivery of ammunition and equipment to replenish Israel's Iron Dome underlines the strong US allegiance.

However, this stark partisanship begs the question – what kind of repercussions does this have on the global stage? With potential for the conflict to ensnare nearby regions and instigate a worldwide catastrophe, the aggressive posturing of the US through exaggerated shows of military might is disconcerting.

The strategic shift by US towards a more diplomatic approach, marked by its involvement in the Middle East peace talks, currently falls short of desired outcomes and garners scepticism considering its militaristic involvement in protecting its primary ally, Israel. Meanwhile, despite the conflict, the importance of the Middle East in the global economy and energy sector cannot be overlooked, further complicating the US’s position.

The dire concern now is whether the Operation al-Aqsa Flood might be used by the US to address "the Axis of resistance," a move which could potentially ignite a conflict of global proportions. The world needs to brace for a possible global catastrophe as the war drums echo ominously louder.
