JERUSALEM - Richard Hecht, the spokesperson for the Israeli military, urged residents of Gaza City on Saturday not to postpone their evacuation. He released a statement amidst growing fears of a fresh military offensive from the Israeli forces targeted towards the north of the Gaza Strip. Surrounding roads were once again chock-full with people attempting to escape the imminent threat.

Hecht delineated a "window" of safe passage for those seeking to make the arduous journey to the south of Gaza. This window spans a six-hour period, operating daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Although he refrained from specifying the duration this window would be open, Hecht stated emphatically, "We know this is going to take time, but we recommend people not to delay."

This decision comes in the wake of escalating tension between Israeli forces and Hamas militants who breached the military security perimeter encircling the Gaza Strip on October 7. Resultantly, over 1,300 residents of southern Israel lost their lives, prompting a fierce Israeli retaliation, culminating in the death of no fewer than 2,215 individuals dwelling in Gaza.
