Cape Town, renowned for its breathtaking cityscapes and vibrant beaches, has been announced as the seventh most affordable city to visit globally, according to a new study. Bounce, a renowned travel expert, placed it among the top affordable places for a break destination in 2023, following a comprehensive review of their initial 2021 breakdown.
The study inspected 75 of the present year's most popular destinations, focusing on variables such as hotel costs, beer prices, and one-way transportation fares. According to their findings, an average night at a hotel in Cape Town costs R5,600. The average cost for a meal in a restaurant is approximately R200, while a beer generally costs R46.
Outranking Cape Town, Timișoara in Romania emerged as the most budget-friendly city. The daily cost of a hotel in this European city, crowned as the cultural capital of Europe for 2021, is R2,300. Furthermore, the taxi fare per kilometer in Timișoara averages at just R15, which significantly reduces transportation expenses.
Following closely behind, Buenos Aires fell to second place on the list, from its reigning position in 2021. Despite the change in ranking, it still boasts the cheapest bottle of wine costs, at R74, and the most affordable transportation fares, at R4.
Breaking into the index, the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, takes the third spot. Seen to offer an affordable tourism experience, a one-way ticket on public transportation is approximately R6, with draught beer priced at R32.
