Microsoft's AI-powered "Paint Cocreator" Revolutionizes User Experience

Microsoft is advancing the capabilities of its iconic Paint software with the integration of artificial intelligence. A test is currently underway for "Paint Cocreator", a DALL-E-powered text-to-image generator, among Windows Preview users in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Canada, Italy, and Germany. This innovative tool marks a significant development in the use of AI within the software, allowing users to generate images directly from textual prompts.

Principal Product Manager Lead of Microsoft, Dave Grochocki, expressed the company's enthusiasm about the new AI-assisted feature. "With this update, we are excited to introduce Paint Cocreator, a new AI-powered experience powered by DALL-E that helps you create amazing artwork in Paint by describing in a few words what you think you’d like to create," he explained.

Paint Cocreator is not only focused on image generation, but it also provides users with the flexibility to select their preferred art style and consequently generates three unique image variations. After choosing their favourite, users are granted the ability to further edit and personalize the image, thanks to new features that allow layer additions and transparency adjustments.

While the company anticipates a wider rollout in the coming weeks, Paint Cocreator is exclusively available to Windows Insiders on a waitlist basis for the time-being.

Interestingly, Grochocki intimated the possibility of Paint Cocreator eventually becoming a paid feature. "You will get an email notification when you are in the preview, and we will give you 50 credits to get started. Each credit lets you generate a new set of images,” he detailed, indicating that users in the preview will be given 50 free credits to explore the tool’s capabilities.
