Planned Load-Shedding Respite Announced by Eskom Until Late Afternoon

In a crucial update on their power delivery strategy, Eskom, South Africa's primary power utility provider, announced that it will suspend its load-shedding program from 11am until 4pm on Saturday. This implies that customers will enjoy a much-needed respite from scheduled power outages during this window. However, the respite is set to be brief as the company declared that Stage 3 load-shedding will be re-implemented from 4pm, carrying on until 5am on Sunday.

As part of the company's approach to manage an over-stretched and under-resourced power grid, Stage 3 load-shedding involves rotational blackouts throughout the country designed to reduce the load on the power grid and prevent total blackouts.

While this interruption in load-shedding is a welcome relief, the company cautioned that "thereafter, load-shedding will continue to be implemented as previously communicated". This statement indicates that further scheduled power outages can be expected, although the exact schedule has yet to be stated.

The utility provider advised that updates would be published in case of any significant changes in the planned load-shedding schedule, highlighting its commitment to keep the public informed about the ongoing power crisis.
