US tech titan, Apple has come forward to confirm that it shall produce an update to the popular iPhone 12 model in France following regulators voicing their concerns over the device's potential radiation emissions. This response arrives in the wake of the French digital minister's announcement Friday, after sales of the model were halted on Tuesday due to the authorities claiming the smartphone model was emitting electromagnetic waves at a higher level than permitted.

The digital minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, shared in a statement with the AFP news agency, “Apple has assured me that it will implement an update for the iPhone 12 in the next few days". Barrot and Apple have jointly affirmed that there is no threat to public health from the radiation originating from the devices.

The statement from Apple clarified that,"This is related to a specific testing protocol used by French regulators and not a safety concern.” They further confirmed that their devices are absolutely in line with international emissions regulations and that, “We will issue a software update for users in France to accommodate the protocol used by French regulators.”

Earlier this week, Barrot set a two-week deadline for the powerhouse tech firm from the United States to issue an update to its iPhone 12 model, a staple product for Apple. He indicated that a thorough appraisal of the update will be done by the ANFR, the agency in charge of testing. Once satisfied with the changes, Barrot will then consider allowing the resumption of sales.

The World Health Organization advised that there is no proven health risk associated with mobile phone use, despite numerous studies in the field.
