Bafana Bafana's head coach, Hugo Broos, is anticipated to line up his strongest team in response to the decisive face-off against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), expected to take place at 5pm on Tuesday at Orlando Stadium. This critical match marks the team's second friendly of the month.

Launching this leg of the September Fifa international break, Bafana earlier held a scoreless draw against Namibia, also held at Orlando Stadium. Although perhaps unexpected, Coach Broos did not express disappointment at the event's outcome. His focus, he explains, was centered on performance and on integrating new components into the established team framework.

Flagged frontline champions, including Percy Tau, Mihlali Mayambela, Ronwen Williams, and Mothobi Mvala are reported to be leading the team against DRC.

Broos commented on the Namibia game, emphasising that the performance outweighed the result. Although the team had opportunities for victory, the composition of the team was full of new and less frequently played members, and this, Broos posited, should be taken into account.

The Namibia showdown, dominated by seven injuries and a weaker Bafana team, yielded a disappointingly lacklustre performance. But with the anticipated return of power players, the coach remains optimistic about an improved game against the DRC, who have also secured a place in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in January, akin to Bafana.

As a precursor to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers kicking off in November and the Afcon in Ivory Coast next year, the outcome of the impending match against DRC is crucial.
