The top echelons of media streaming platform Showmax saw a big change as CEO Yolisa Phahle announced her retirement. This follows her successful tenure which included heading M-Net as CEO in 2015 and being appointed as CEO for Showmax in 2020. As outlined in a thorough statement by MultiChoice Group CEO, Calvo Mawela, this transition has been well orchestrated to ensure a seamless handover.

Marc Jury, currently MultiChoice SA boss, took over as acting Showmax CEO on 1 September 2023. He will continue to steer both Showmax and MultiChoice South Africa as the company embarks on the search for a new Showmax CEO.

While Yolisa Phahle may be retiring, she is not completely exiting the scene. For six months, she will continue to render advisory support, before proceeding to consult the group for a 12-months period as of March 2024.

Meanwhile, Showmax is not the only MultiChoice entity to witness leadership shifts. The baton for CEO of SuperSport was handed over earlier than expected to Rendani Ramovha on 1 September. Also, Collen Dlamini made a move from Head of Corporate Affairs and Stakeholder Relations to become an advisor on legislative, regulatory and policy matters. His former position will be filled by Keabetswe Modimoeng, who was hired in January to handle stakeholder relations for its 'Rest of Africa' markets.

Amongst these transitions, the company is also bidding farewell to chief information officer Brad Eliot who has offered his resignation and currently serves a three-month notice period.
