Joshua Rachilo, a 22-year-old matric learner from Limpopo, embroiled in an alleged lethal bullying case, was granted a R3 000 bail by the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court near Mokopane. Rachilo stands accused of assaulting and subsequently killing a fellow student, Willem Ngoepe, during an argument at their school, Mpirabirwa Secondary.

The tragic event, that has shocked the community, occurred during a matric camp. The matric learner used a wooden object during the assault, striking Ngoepe in the head.

Rachilo's arrest occurred last week, triggered by this incident. However, the courts found no risk of Rachilo attempting to avoid justice and thus granted him bail. The conditions set include a staunch prohibition on Rachilo interfering with state witnesses or intimidating any learners at the school. Moreover, he is commanded not to commit similar offenses.

Rachilo is scheduled for another court appearance on the 9th of October, 2023, where he will formally face the charges of murder, these accusations growing out of this lamentable event.
