In a significant episode against drug trafficking, the Cape Town Police deployed the National Intervention Unit following a tip-off about a marijuana depot in Philippi. The operation led to the capture of two suspects on Monday who were detected in the process of consolidating and sealing cannabis into bags.

The police intervention took place in Schaapskraal on 8th Avenue, where comprehensive searches were executed by law enforcement at the reported premises. According to Joseph Swaartbooi, the police spokesperson, the suspects are facing charges for dealing in marijuana and are due a court appearance at the Athlone Magistrates Court soon.

This notable drug-bust has helped the police remove an substantial amount of marijuana, with an estimated street value of ZAR 1.5 million, impacting the narcotics trade in Cape Town significantly.
